I’ve written over 400,000 words across over 350 articles, so far this year. No novels, or stories, or great, inspiring leaps of imagination —just well-researched, targeted, writing tailored to client and audience needs.

Writing itself isn’t that hard —it’s having the *confidence* to write and ask to be paid (well) for it that’s the challenge! Because I am niche, and have plenty of experience in my field (business and technology), I am probably in the top 20% of writers in my space, but I have no illusions.

Someone else could get to that level inside a year — it’s just a case of wanting to put in the time to read, learn, and express ideas in a simple, understandable way. It’s also a case of not going for the “sexy” writing — there’s *way* too much competition in wanting to be the next great novelist!

But, write about topics like risk management, encryption, quality standards, or software as a service (just an example of standards in my space), and it's much easier to make a splash.
